Innovations in Iron and Steel Production

Workers in the metallurgical industry are making innovations in iron and steel production.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex has built a new concentrated ore drying furnace. The new furnace makes it possible to remarkably increase the pig iron production without increasing the area of blast furnace and accordingly shorten the melting time and raise the molten iron production per charge.

In cooperation with researchers at Kim Chaek University of Technology, the complex has put the operation of oxygen plants on a higher scientific footing by equipping them with various analysis devices.

Meanwhile, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex has introduced a new Chongroan-style refining technique into the production of heavy rails, thus gaining much economic profits.

Recently, it has improved the structure of ferroalloy furnace to significantly lower the per-unit consumption of the materials and enhance the rate of actual yield of products.

And the Chollima Steel Complex, too, has developed new techniques and introduced working methods to shorten the time of melting and cutting workpieces.
