One day in the mid-1990s Chairman Kim Jong Il called some officials in charge of youth work. On that occasion he gave precious instructions on the orientation of the future work of the then League of Socialist Working Youth.
He said: As the young people are the masters of the future, we should love them and pay special attention to their ideological education. Our Party put forward the slogan “Love the youth!” on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the League of Socialist Working Youth.
The slogan represents the benevolent care of President Kim Il Sung who brought up our young people as a reliable reserve force of and successors to the Party and the revolution and led them to perform heroic feats, and the Party and people’s trust in and expectations of them, he stressed.
The slogan, he went on, pulsates with the firm will of our Party to bring the Juche revolutionary cause to completion generation after generation by training the young people into true sons and daughters of the Party and with the conviction of us revolutionaries who love the future boundlessly, and the more the difficulties crop up on the road of revolution and the more complicated the situation becomes, the more we should treasure our young people and intensify their ideological education.
Indeed, thanks to the profound love and trust of Chairman Kim Jong Il, who spared no effort for the young people, the Korean youth movement greeted the great era of its development.
