To Save Young Life

Days ago a baby was brought to the North Jeolla Provincial Children’s Hospital.

The one-year-old boy was Kang Un Chong from Puyun County.

The young patient was in a critical condition with third-degree burns on 20% of his body. Worse still, the flesh under his knees was burned so heavily that the bones were exposed bare.

After the intensive treatment of more than ten days, the immediate danger of death was gone to some extent, but the patient was still in danger as his condition was changing so often.

At that time, the hospital had some students of the Clinical Medicine Faculty of Huichon College of Medical Sciences who were on an internship course. After the students and their teachers got to know about the patient, they asked the hospital authorities to allow them to donate their skin for him.

After all, more than 30 teachers and students donated their skin for the young patient.

Several days later, the second skin grafting operation took place.

This time, too, many students donated their skin for the second operation.

The patient’s condition improved day by day.

“When he had been unexpectedly burned, I only shed tears wondering if he could survive. But the sincerity of the medical workers of the hospital and students brought him back to life,” said Un Chong’s grandmother when he was leaving the hospital.
