Tea leaf harvest is in full swing at the Kumdong Unjong Tea Farm in Bongsan County, South Hwanghae Province, one of the country’s leading tea producers.
The farm has over a hundred hectares of tea fields.
According to Song Chun Son, managing director of the farm, tea leaves are harvested three times a year with the first harvest in May and June, and now the harvest of the leaves for processing Cholgwanum tea is under way.
Cholgwanum tea is made by fermenting the tea leaves by 20-70%.
Every day employees pick tens of kilogrammes of leaves on the rolling hillside. The harvested leaves are immediately transported to the tea-processing workshop.
The harvest is adding to the delight of the employees who have received new houses.
