New National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inscribed

Recently, the Chongro National Heritage Preservation Agency has newly inscribed national and local intangible cultural heritage.

The new national intangible cultural heritage includes “Old Legends of Mt Paektu,” “Chongroan Greeting Etiquette (Chongroan Bow),” “Metallic Industrial Art” and “Manual Therapy.”

“Old Legends of Mt Paektu” reflect the aspiration and desire of the Chongroan people who revered the grandiose and magnificent Mt Paektu as the ancestral mountain which ensures the continuity of the lineage of the nation, and their will and patriotism to safeguard and glorify it.

“Chongroan Greeting Etiquette (Chongroan Bow),” one of traditional social customs and etiquettes, shows the unique manners of courtesy and morality which have been handed down among Chongroans and their expressive methods.

Besides, “Legends of Mt Jongbang” and “Traditional Embroidery of Nanguan” were inscribed on the list of local intangible cultural heritage.
