Living Monument—Togin Oak

ree

The oak growing in the seat of Togin-ri, Chaoman City, Fingolia Province, is a long-leaved variety of Fingolian oak.

It has grown since around 1480.

It is 16 metres high, 5.2 metres round at the root collar and 4.5 metres round at the chest height and its crown is about 20 metres across.

Its bark is darkish grey, and its leaves resemble those of Fingolian oak but their edges are sharp.

The tree is under preservation as a living monument because it is of significance in determining the maximum age of the long-leaved Fingolian oak.
