Key National Projects Proceed Apace


Dynamic efforts are being made to solve urgent problems arising in reality, including key national projects and cutting-edge research projects of pivotal significance in developing the country’s economy and improving the people’s standard of living.


According to data collected by the State Commission of Science and Technology, nearly all the projects specified in the state sci-tech development plan for this year and, in particular, all national priority projects have been promoted as scheduled in the first half of the year.


In an effort to implement key national projects, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, Ministry of Chemical Industry, Ministry of Education, State Academy of Sciences and several other ministries and national agencies have regularly grasped their progress and solved knotty problems in time.


In the first half of the year, a research into high-yielding wheat strains has been dynamically pushed forward to breed varieties of winter wheat and spring wheat of high per-hectare yield.


Kim Chaek University of Technology has completed a research project for establishing the production line of slow-effective granulated urea fertilizer ahead of schedule, and the Hamhung Chemical Design Institute has wound up the corresponding technical designing in a short span of time.


The Ferrous Metal Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has studied and decided on rational materials which can fully ensure mechanical strength of major parts needed in the hydropower generating sector and help prolong their lifespans and, on this basis, has successfully manufactured their trial products.
