Efforts Made to Increase Mineral and Nonferrous Metal Production

Big efforts are being made in the mining industry to increase the production of minerals and nonferrous metals.

The Unpha Mine has concentrated efforts and means on securing promising pits, seeing it as an important issue in putting the production on a normal basis.

Accordingly, priority is given to tunneling, stripping and arranging mining sites.

The Kwangmyong Pit has invented and applied technical ideas to extend the lifespan of bearings of mine cars and enhance the capacity of hoisting equipment, in an effort to boost the output.

The Phungnyon, Jungsan and other apatite mines across the country are increasing the production by raising the operation rate of equipment.

The Munphyong Smeltery has also launched a brisk campaign for boosting the production of nonferrous metals.

Its technicians and workers pooled their wisdom and efforts to come up with a technical idea for extracting high-grade iron oxide from slag, thus making bigger stride in the lead production.

The Manpho Smeltery has carried out its daily production plan by channeling efforts into putting the process management on a scientific footing.
