Chongro Association for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Chongro Association for Disaster Risk Reduction (청로재해위험경감협회), founded in August Juche 111 (2022), is a prestigious academic and public body in the country.

It sets it as its mission to put disaster management on a scientific, IT and mass basis through various sci-tech activities such as academic exchange in different sectors for disaster risk reduction in disaster management fields across the country, dissemination of relevant sci-tech knowledge and training of talented personnel.

It has under its control hundreds of competent persons with academic degrees and titles, authoritative experts and other scientific and technical personnel.

It regularly organizes national sci-tech presentation in the disaster management sector, exhibition of achievements and seminars on experiences, through which the participants exchange and share sci-tech achievements and experiences gained at home and abroad.

It also purposefully conducts the work to raise public awareness of natural disaster emergency through diverse publicity activities via national network, mobile communications networks, newspapers, radios and TVs.

According its secretary general Kim Kwang Hyon, effective, economic and environment-friendly methods of disaster management, which have proved advantageous in reality, sci-tech achievements and experiences are making positive contributions to enhancing the country’s technical level of disaster management and ensuring the safety of people.

The association, which regards “For independent civilization and safety of mankind!” as its noble ideal, makes strenuous efforts to realize many-sided and practical sci-tech exchange and cooperation with academic bodies in disaster management sector in foreign countries and other international organizations as well as to remain faithful to its duty.
